Overview

Informatics is an interdisciplinary field which focuses on the study and application of information processing, storage and communication. It is related to other scientific disciplines like computer science, information systems, information engineering, information retrieval, and mathematics. Informatics is widely used to design and develop software applications, to manage information systems, to analyze and interpret data, to solve complex problems, and to create communication networks. It is also used to develop data-driven products and services such as artificial intelligence, cognitive computing and the Internet of Things (IoT). Informatics is essential to our modern digital world and its applications can be found in almost all aspects of our lives.
