Overview
Healthcare and hospital management encompasses the organizational, administrative, and clinical processes that ensure the effective delivery of health services within medical facilities and health systems. Research published in Public Health International on this topic examines critical operational challenges across diverse healthcare settings, with particular emphasis on low- and middle-income contexts. Studies address biomedical waste management practices among hospital personnel, infection prevention and control knowledge among healthcare workers, and data quality issues within public health facilities. The journal has published investigations into maternal and newborn health service indicators, barriers faced by community health workers implementing care programs, and healthcare worker knowledge regarding disease prevention, including hepatitis B and COVID-19. Additional research explores risk management during drug therapy administration, quality improvement strategies in private healthcare facilities, and the development of population-based screening programs. Recent work has also examined healthcare practitioner burnout and its safety implications, as well as caregiver knowledge regarding childhood injury management. These studies collectively highlight the importance of strengthening health workforce competencies, improving facility-level systems, and addressing quality gaps that directly affect patient safety and health outcomes in varied resource settings.
