Biomedical image processing is an important medical tool. It is the use of specialized computer algorithms to analyze and manipulate medical images to aid in diagnosis, treatment planning and research. Examples of biomedical image processing techniques include segmentation, registration, classification, fusion, and visualization. This technology can be used to detect and diagnose diseases and conditions, such as cancer, heart disease, Alzheimer's and others, as well as to monitor treatment and response to medication. By analyzing medical images, physicians can gain better insight into the disease and how to effectively treat patients. It can also be used in the development of biomedical implants, such as hearing aids, pacemakers and artificial joints.
