How editorial oversight is governed
The Board's work is governed by the journal's scope, peer-review process and editorial policies.
Scope and integrity
Manuscripts are assessed for scope, scholarly quality, methodological rigor, ethical compliance, and research integrity.
Peer review
Peer review: Single-blind by default; double-blind review is available on request. Manuscripts that proceed to external peer review are normally evaluated by at least two independent subject-matter experts.
Editorial decisions
Editorial decisions are based on scope, scientific quality, methodological rigor, ethical compliance, reporting quality, and relevance to the journal.
Conflicts and recusal
Editors disclose competing interests and take no part in handling their own submissions or other manuscripts for which impartiality could reasonably be questioned.
Editorial service does not confer an advantage in the review or acceptance of an editor's own work. Such manuscripts are handled without the submitting editor's participation.
