Biography:

  • Dr Adeem Mahmood is currently working as Assistant Professor in Synthetic & Natural Product Chemistry at the Department of Chemistry, King Saud University, KSA since Sep-2014.
  • Before joining KSU, Dr Adeem worked as an Assistant Professor of Synthetic Chemistry for the Department of Chemistry, COMSATS Institute, Abbottabad, Pakistan for 3 years.
  • Dr. Adeem Mahmood obtained his M.Sc. in Organic Chemistry from the Bahauddin Zakariya University, Multan, Pakistan, completing his thesis work at PMRC (Pakistan Medical Research Council) Nishter Medical College, Multan.
  • After serving as a Drugs Stability-Controlled Chemist at Hamaz Pharma, Multan for three years, he went to the HEJ (ICCSB) Karachi University for his higher studies (M.Phil leading to PhD in Organic Chemistry).
  • He had worked on the isolation of natural products in the research group of Prof. Dr. M. Iqbal Chaudhary at HEJ Research Institute of Chemistry, University of Karachi, Pakistan during 2004-2006.
  • Immediately after passing the International GRE (ETS) exam with high percentile and awarding a PhD Split-Scholarship from the Higher Education Commission, Pakistan, he went on to complete his PhD at the University of Bristol, UK, under the supervision of an eminent scientist Prof. Varinder K. Aggarwal during (2006-2010).
  • He worked on the asymmetric lithiation/borylation of primary carbamate and their applications towards the allylation of aldehydes and the Prins cyclization.
  • He had also developed a novel methodology involves C-C bond formation by applying Boron chemistry in Organic Synthesis.
  • Having earned his PhD degree in Organic Chemistry, Dr. Adeem later worked as a Postdoctoral Research Associate (2011-2012) at the University of Nottingham, UK in Stockman’s group.
  • Dr. Adeem current research expertise is in Organic Synthesis (organometallic chemistry, Asymmetric synthesis and catalysis), Natural Product Chemistry.
  • He is a Associate Member of Royal Society of Chemistry, UK.
