Overview

Physiology is the scientific study of the function and mechanisms of living organisms. It encompasses the activities of cells, tissues, organs and systems that allow life to exist and function. Through studying physiology, we learn how our bodies respond to changes in the environment, how we use energy, and how our actions are regulated by hormones and other molecules. Physiology is an important tool in understanding the human body, improving health, and helping with medical research. It also helps us to understand how other animals, plants and organisms function.
