Editorial Policies

Journal of New Developments in Chemistry maintains clear editorial policies to ensure integrity, transparency, and quality in chemistry publishing.

Open Access Policy

Journal of New Developments in Chemistry is fully open access. All published articles are freely available online under a Creative Commons license. Open access supports the wide dissemination of chemistry research to academic, industrial, and educational audiences.

Peer Review

The journal uses single blind peer review. Reviewers know author identities, while authors do not know reviewer identities. Editors select reviewers based on subject expertise and evaluate manuscripts for quality, ethics, and relevance to chemical science.

Editorial Independence

Editorial decisions are based on scientific merit, ethics, and scope. Financial considerations, including APCs or membership, do not influence peer review outcomes. Editors and reviewers are expected to disclose conflicts of interest and recuse themselves when appropriate.

Ethics and Integrity

Journal of New Developments in Chemistry adheres to COPE and ICMJE guidance. Authors must provide ethics approval and informed consent details for research involving humans or animals. Chemical safety and hazard information should be reported where relevant.

All submissions are screened for originality using iThenticate or equivalent tools. Suspected misconduct, including plagiarism, fabrication, or falsification, is handled according to COPE procedures.

Confidentiality

Editors and reviewers must treat submitted manuscripts as confidential documents. Information obtained through peer review must not be used for personal advantage or shared outside the review process. Reviewer identities and reports are not disclosed without permission.

Authorship and Conflicts of Interest
  • All listed authors must meet authorship criteria and approve the final submission.
  • Changes to author lists require written agreement from all authors.
  • Conflicts of interest and funding sources must be disclosed in the manuscript.
Data Availability and Reporting

All manuscripts must include a Data Availability Statement. Authors should follow reporting checklists when relevant and provide transparent methods and analyses. Data sharing supports reproducibility and strengthens the evidence base for chemical research.

Image and Data Integrity

Images, spectra, and data visualizations must accurately represent the underlying data. Manipulation that misrepresents results is not permitted. Editors may request original data files to verify integrity.

Corrections and Retractions

If errors are identified after publication, the journal will issue corrections, expressions of concern, or retractions as appropriate. Actions follow COPE guidance and preserve the integrity of the scholarly record.

Appeals and Complaints

Authors may appeal editorial decisions by providing a detailed response and supporting evidence. Appeals are reviewed by the editorial office or an independent editor when appropriate. Complaints are handled fairly and confidentially.

Advertising and Sponsorship

Journal of New Developments in Chemistry does not currently accept third-party advertising or sponsorships that influence editorial content. Any future advertising will be clearly separated from editorial decision-making.

Use of AI Tools

AI tools may be used for language assistance, but they cannot be listed as authors. Substantive use must be disclosed in a dedicated statement, and authors remain responsible for all content.
