Biography

Dr. Aditya Gupta, BSc, is a Post-doctoral Fellow at USDA-ARS in Beltsville, Maryland, United States. He completed his education at Punjabi University, Panjab University, and the Central Board of Secondary Education. His research focuses on the morphological, histopathological, and molecular characterization of myxosporean parasites infecting freshwater fish species, particularly in cold water wetlands of India. His most-cited publication describes Myxobolus szekelyianus n. sp., a novel myxosporean species causing acute gill disease in Schizothorax esocinus from the Kashmir Himalayan region (2021). Dr. Gupta has contributed extensively to the taxonomy and phylogenetic understanding of Myxobolus and Thelohanellus species complexes affecting major and minor carps in Indian aquatic ecosystems.
