Editorial standards

JAPST follows established publication ethics and expects all submissions to meet high standards of scientific integrity. Our editorial decisions are based solely on scholarly merit and relevance to pharmaceutical science and technology. We align with COPE principles and best practices.

We apply consistent review criteria to ensure fairness across all manuscript types and communicate decisions clearly.

Peer review policy

JAPST uses expert peer review to assess originality, methodological rigor, and relevance. Reviews are typically single blind, and editorial decisions are documented for transparency. Reviewers are selected for subject expertise and are expected to provide constructive, unbiased feedback within agreed timelines.

Manuscripts may be desk-rejected if they fall outside the scope or fail to meet ethical requirements.

Ethics and integrity

• Human and animal studies require ethical approval and informed consent.
• Conflicts of interest and funding sources must be disclosed.
• Plagiarism, duplicate submission, and fabricated data are prohibited. Violations may result in rejection or retraction.
• Clinical trials should include a registry identifier.

Data and materials availability

Authors must include a data availability statement describing where datasets, code, or materials can be accessed. If data are restricted due to privacy or regulatory requirements, the statement should explain access conditions.

These practices promote reproducibility and enable validation of pharmaceutical research findings.

Authorship and contributions

Authorship should reflect substantial contributions to study design, data collection, analysis, and manuscript drafting. The corresponding author ensures that all coauthors approve the final version and agree to submission.

Contribution statements are required to clarify individual roles.

Conflicts of interest and funding

Authors, reviewers, and editors must disclose any financial or personal relationships that could influence the work. Funding sources and sponsor roles must be reported clearly.

This transparency protects the integrity of the editorial process.

Corrections and retractions

If errors are identified after publication, JAPST issues corrections or retractions as needed. All updates are linked to the original article to maintain transparency.

Editorial independence

Editorial decisions are independent of commercial considerations, sponsorship, or author funding. The editorial office maintains autonomy to ensure decisions are based solely on scientific merit and journal scope. This protects authors and readers.

Appeals and complaints

If authors believe a decision was based on a misunderstanding, they may submit a concise appeal with supporting evidence. Appeals are reviewed by senior editors not involved in the original decision.

Concerns about editorial conduct should be reported to the editorial office for investigation. We aim to respond within two weeks when possible.

Special issue policy

Special issue manuscripts follow the same peer review standards as regular submissions. Guest editors may advise on scope, but final decisions remain with JAPST editors.
