Indexing and discoverability
Where the journal is registered, where its articles are discoverable, and where the record is preserved — with each service under the heading that describes what it actually does.
Identifier registration, metadata distribution and discovery are different things, and this page keeps them apart rather than listing them together. The journal’s subject matter is set out in Aims and Scope.
Journal identifier
How the journal is identified
One registry, one identifier.
The journal is registered with the ISSN International Centre under ISSN 2474-9273 (electronic). That is the identifier under which its title is recorded and the one that should be used to cite it.
An ISSN records that a serial exists and fixes its title. It is a registration, not an assessment of the journal and not a form of indexing.
DOI registration
How articles are identified
Crossref, prefix 10.14302.
Articles are registered with Crossref under the DOI prefix 10.14302. Each registered article has a persistent link, and its metadata — title, authors, date, volume, issue and pages — is distributed to the services that consume Crossref.
Crossref is DOI registration and metadata distribution infrastructure. It is not selective indexing, and membership of it says nothing about editorial selectivity.
The record the journal has deposited is visible in the Archives, where every entry links to its version of record.
Metadata and discovery
Where the articles surface
Services that harvest open metadata.
Discovery services build their coverage by harvesting open metadata rather than by selecting journals. Appearing in one means the metadata reached it; it is not a quality signal and is not equivalent to selective indexing.

- The journal’s registered articles are present in Semantic Scholar under the journal’s venue name.
- Scholarly search engines
- Article pages publish the
citation_*metadata that scholarly search engines read — journal title, ISSN, authors, date, volume, issue, pages and DOI — so an article is machine-readable to a crawler that reaches it. - ORCID
- Author ORCID iDs are displayed on article records where authors have supplied them. ORCID identifies people, not journals, and is not indexing.

Identifier registration and discovery-service coverage are distinct from selective journal-level indexing.

A deposit route for individual manuscripts.
Eligible NIH-funded manuscripts may be deposited individually in PubMed Central through the NIH Manuscript Submission System (NIHMS).
Individual manuscript deposit does not establish journal-level indexing. Journal-level discovery services are stated separately below.

As articles are deposited they enter Portico’s permanent archive, so the scholarly record stays available for the long term — even if a title one day ceases to publish.
