Editorial Policies
Transparent editorial standards that safeguard veterinary research integrity.
Committed to rigorous and ethical publishing
JVHC follows established editorial standards aligned with the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Our policies are designed to protect animal welfare, ensure research integrity, and maintain trust in the veterinary literature.
All submissions undergo editorial screening, peer review, and integrity checks before acceptance.
JVHC uses a structured peer review process to evaluate scientific quality, clinical relevance, and ethical compliance. Reviewers assess methodology, statistical rigor, and clarity of reporting. Editors may request revisions or additional review to ensure high standards are met.
Reviewers are expected to maintain confidentiality and provide constructive feedback that improves the veterinary evidence base.
- All animal studies must include ethical approvals and welfare safeguards.
- Owner consent is required for identifiable animal images or case details.
- Authors must disclose conflicts of interest and funding sources.
- Clinical trials should be registered where applicable.
Manuscripts lacking adequate welfare documentation may be returned for revision or declined.
JVHC requires original work that is not under consideration elsewhere. All submissions are checked for plagiarism and redundant publication. Suspected misconduct will be investigated and may result in rejection or retraction.
Authorship should reflect significant contributions to study design, data collection, analysis, or writing. All authors must approve the final manuscript and agree to accountability for their contributions.
Guest authorship, honorary authorship, and undisclosed contributors are not permitted. Acknowledgments should recognize contributors who do not meet authorship criteria.
Authors must provide data availability statements and ensure transparency about methods and analysis. Where data sharing is restricted, authors should explain the reason and provide access conditions.
Authors should also disclose funding sources and any relevant relationships that could influence interpretation of results.
JVHC issues corrections, expressions of concern, or retractions when necessary to maintain the integrity of the scholarly record. Authors are expected to cooperate with investigations and respond promptly.
Use of AI for language editing or analysis must be disclosed in the manuscript. Authors remain responsible for accuracy, originality, and ethical compliance.
All authors, reviewers, and editors must disclose potential conflicts of interest. Financial relationships, advisory roles, or competing intellectual property should be declared to protect transparency and reader trust.
Authors may appeal editorial decisions by providing a clear scientific rationale and supporting evidence. Appeals are reviewed by a senior editor for fairness and consistency.
Editorial decisions are independent of any advertising or sponsorship activity. JVHC maintains a clear separation between editorial content and commercial considerations.
We welcome scholarly discussion and corrections when new evidence emerges. Readers and authors can contact the editorial office if they identify errors or have concerns about published work.
