The Journal of Proteomics and Genomics Research is open for submissions across its full remit. This page sets out what the journal is looking for, what it accepts, and how to send a manuscript.

The invitation
Work where the omics contribution is the contribution
The journal gives standing to proteomics on its own, to genomics on its own, and to work that integrates the two across biological systems. Basic and applied studies both fit, across organisms, and established methods and focused or targeted omics fit where the proteomic or genomic contribution is substantive.
The question to ask of a manuscript is whether its proteomic or genomic contribution is central to what the study shows, rather than one measurement among several.
Work in which sequencing or mass spectrometry appears incidentally, and routine gene or protein assays, sit outside the journal’s remit. The Aims and Scope sets out the domains and that boundary in full.
Submissions are open continuously. The journal is running no themed call with a closing date at present, so a manuscript that fits the remit can be sent at any time.
What is accepted
Article types
- Original research article
- New experimental or computational results.
- Review article
- Narrative reviews, systematic reviews and meta-analyses. Systematic reviews report their search and selection methods.
- Method and technology report
- A workflow, assay, algorithm or platform, with documented performance.
- Short communication
- A focused result that stands on its own.
- Data resource
- A dataset or reference resource, published with guidance for reuse.
- Perspective or commentary
- By invitation.

Assessment
What happens to a manuscript
All submissions undergo initial editorial screening. Manuscripts that meet the journal’s scope and minimum requirements proceed to independent peer review.
Single-blind by default; double-blind review is available on request. Manuscripts that proceed to external peer review are normally evaluated by at least two independent subject-matter experts.
Editorial decisions are based on scope, scientific quality, methodological rigor, ethical compliance, reporting quality, and relevance to the journal. The article processing charge is USD 2,100 per accepted article, raised after acceptance only; it is described on the Article Processing Charges page and takes no part in the decision.

Authors must use only one submission route for the same manuscript.
