Indexing and Discoverability

JTC’s current discovery infrastructure includes ISSN and ROAD registration, Crossref registration for deposited article identifiers, OAI-PMH harvesting, scholarly discovery services, Portico preservation, and NIHMS deposit for eligible manuscripts.

01 · Categories

Roles of the current services

The services below identify, disseminate, discover, and preserve scholarly work.

Journal identifier
The ISSN registry records the journal’s identity and catalogue entry.
DOI registration
Crossref registers deposited article identifiers and maintains their citation metadata.
Metadata harvesting
A protocol that lets libraries, repositories and aggregators collect article metadata automatically.
Discovery services
Scholarly search engines and open catalogs make covered article records searchable through crawling and metadata feeds.
Digital preservation
A dark archive that keeps the record readable if the publisher’s own platform ceases to exist.

02 · Registration

Identifiers and registration

ISSN 2574-4496
Registered with the ISSN International Centre and listed in ROAD, its directory of open-access scholarly resources. View the ISSN record
Crossref, prefix 10.14302
JTC uses Crossref DOI registration and article metadata deposits. View the Crossref record
OAI-PMH
Article metadata is exposed in a standard format for harvesting by libraries, repositories and aggregators.

03 · Discovery

Where JTC articles are found

Google Scholar
Google Scholar makes covered scholarly records searchable through its crawler-based service.
OpenAlex
An open catalogue of scholarly works. JTC articles and their citation links are represented there. View the OpenAlex record
Semantic Scholar
An open corpus of scholarly literature built by crawling and by publisher and aggregator feeds.

04 · Preservation

Keeping the record readable

This journal's content is committed to Portico, a not-for-profit digital-preservation archive run by ITHAKA (the organization behind JSTOR). As articles are deposited they enter Portico's permanent archive, so the scholarly record stays available for the long term — even if a title one day ceases to publish.

05 · Funder deposit

NIH-funded manuscripts

Eligible NIH-funded manuscripts may be deposited individually in PubMed Central through the NIH Manuscript Submission System (NIHMS). This route supports compliance with applicable funder deposit requirements.

Deposit of an individual manuscript does not indicate that JTC is indexed at the journal level in PubMed, MEDLINE, or PubMed Central.

Where to go next

Judge the journal by its record

Indexing describes where articles can be found. What they are is a separate question, and the archive answers it directly.
