- Peer review
- All submissions undergo initial editorial screening. Manuscripts that meet the journal's scope and minimum requirements proceed to independent peer review. Single-blind by default; double-blind review is available on request.
- Editorial decisions
- Editorial decisions are based on scope, scientific quality, methodological rigor, ethical compliance, reporting quality, and relevance to the journal. Decisions are taken independently of any fee, membership, service or role.
- Data availability
- Every empirical research manuscript must include a data-availability statement. On protein- and genome-scale work that is the statement which lets a reader reach the spectra, sequences, accessions and analysis code behind a result.
- Copyright and license
- Articles are published open access under CC BY 4.0, and authors retain copyright.
- Article processing charge
- USD 2,100, charged after acceptance only. There is no submission fee. Billing and fee-relief inquiries are handled by the editorial office and take no part in the editorial decision.
